What Katy Did - - Rated 5 based on 29 Reviews "Fantastic service, had a few different things and loved them all!! Would definitely recommend!!"5/5(29). Sweet and gentle book. Would you consider the audio edition of What Katy Did to be better than the print version? I have no idea. I read the book at Girl Scout camp when I was 8 or 9. It was part of the camp library and when it was time to go home, I surreptitiously exchanged one of my books for What Katy Did.

Katy did take a good rest, but she was very tired next day. Theexperiment, however, did no harm. In the course of two or three weeks, she was able to walk all over the second story. This was a great enjoyment. It was like reading an interesting book tosee all the new things, and the little changes. She was foreverwondering over something. What Katy Did might not have aged as well as Little Women or A Little Princess (from a modern perspective, the exploration of disability in Katy is quite horrendous), yet it remains a funny, moving book that depicts 19th-century domestic life in precise details/5.

What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge (Coolidge, ) is an example of this; Coolidge uses tragedy and death as a device to teach children to behave. Rather than dealing with the grief and tragedy, Katy is told to find God and become patient and mothering to her siblings while looking after the house like the expected housewife at the time.

What Katy Did Next was released in Two further novels, Clover () and In the High Valley (), focused upon other members of the eponymous character's family.

What Katy Did is a morality tale in an 19 th-century pink striped dress (quite literally—in my copy of the novel, Katy is wearing a pink-and-white striped dress with her hair in a flyaway braid.) Katy Carr is a tomboy—that hated word!—who loves to “make-believe” and play boisterously with her five younger siblings and best friend.
